How RTILS Works
This page explains how Groups, Show Groups, and Leaderboards work on RTILS. It covers the three main Group types, how to join or create them, and who should manage workplace setups.
How Groups, Shows, and Leaderboards Work
Level 1: Group
Everything on RTILS starts with a Group. A Group is a team of people who play reality TV shows together under one group name. Groups can be created by anyone for friends and family, or by a business owner or manager for workplace play.
The person who creates the Group decides:
- How many people can join
- Which reality TV shows the Group will play
Once the Group is set up, members join, make their picks, and see their results on the leaderboards under that Group name.
Level 2: Show Groups
Show Groups are the reality TV show spaces inside a Group. The person who created the Group chooses which shows to add, and members join the Show Groups they want to play.
Level 3: Leaderboards
Leaderboards are the competition formats inside each Show Group. RTILS offers four leaderboards for every reality TV show. The person who created the Group chooses which leaderboards to include, and members choose which ones they want to join.
RTILS supports three main Group types:
- All-Members Groups – open public play
- Friends & Family Groups – invite-only private play
- Business & Public Groups – workplace and public sector play
Can Other Members Use the Same Group Name?
Yes. Different members can use the same Group name. Think of RTILS like this: every member has their own "box" connected to their username. Inside that box are all of their Groups, plus the Show Groups and Leaderboards those Groups play in.
If two different members both name a Group "Family RTILS," that's perfectly fine. Those are two separate Groups in two different member "boxes," with separate stats and leaderboards. They never overlap.
Within your own Group, names must be unique, so you'll never see a duplicate inside your own views. If someone else uses the same Group name, it belongs to them in their own account space.
All-Members Groups
An All-Members Group is an open Group for everyone who has joined a specific Show Group. It lets you jump into a large public Group of reality TV fans and compare your picks with a big crowd.
Key points:
- No invitations needed
- Anyone who joins that Show Group can participate
- Leaderboards show how you compare against a large number of other members
- Great for friendly competition with fans you don't personally know
Best for: People who want to see how they rank against as many other reality TV fans as possible.
How to Join an All-Members Group
- Go to Account
- Select All Groups, then choose All-Members Groups
- Select the Show Group you want and press Join / Enter
Once you join, you'll appear on the All-Members Group leaderboard for that Show Group.
How to Create an All-Members Group
You cannot create your own All-Members Group. RTILS automatically provides the All-Members Group for each Show Group so that anyone can join the same open public Group. You simply join it — you don't set it up.
Friends & Family Groups
Friends & Family Groups are private Groups created by someone who wants to play only with people they personally know — your own private reality TV Group.
Key points:
- You or a friend create one Group for your circle
- Only people with the Group details can join
- The Group has its own mini-leaderboard visible only to your members
- Perfect for fun, low-pressure competitions with people you trust
Best for: Families, friends, neighbours, and small social circles who want their own private Group leaderboard.
How to Join a Friends & Family Group
- Ask the friend who runs the Group for their username and Group password
- Go to Account
- Select All Groups, then choose Friends & Family Groups
- Enter the username and Group password, then press Join / Enter
Once you join, you're a member of that Friends & Family Group. If that Group plays in multiple Show Groups and you join those Show Groups, you'll appear in that Group's leaderboard for each one.
How to Create a Friends & Family Group
- Go to Account
- Select All Groups, then choose Friends & Family Groups
- Choose Create Group
- Enter your Group name and a Group password for joining
- Add the Show Groups you want your Group to play in
You can add more Show Groups later by returning to update your Group. Share your Group name and password with friends and family so they can join.
Business & Public Groups (Workplace Play)
Business & Public Groups are designed for workplaces and public sector organizations — from small local businesses and large corporations to hospitals, clinics, and government departments — where coworkers want to enjoy reality TV play together.
RTILS handles workplaces of any size:
- A small business with 2 employees
- A single clinic, hospital unit, or government office
- A chain store with locations in many cities around the world
Each workplace uses one main Business Group on RTILS. Inside that Business Group, results can be separated by internal divisions such as Sales, Management, Accounting, Support, and other teams. Family members can also be added if the workplace chooses to include them.
For regular employees, the Business Group runs in the background:
- You don't set it up or manage it yourself
- Management or head office creates the Business Group and chooses the Group name
- As an employee or family member, you simply join the Group your workplace tells you to join
- On the leaderboards, you'll see the Group name chosen by your workplace
How Regions Work for Chain Stores and Large Organizations
For businesses with more than one location, RTILS uses one overall Business Group for the company, but standings can be viewed separately by region.
Standings can be viewed by:
- Global – every employee and family member in the entire Business Group
- Country
- Province / State
- Town / City
If your business has more than one location in the same city, RTILS adds one more level:
- Street / Location – the specific location the store is on
This means a chain can use one main Business Group while letting people see results at different levels — from the entire company down to a specific street location. There are no additional region levels beyond this.
If your business uses internal divisions (Sales, Management, Accounting, Support, etc.), they are organized inside these regions. Store staff can also add family members, and those family members appear in the same regional view as the store.
Who Should Create and Manage Business & Public Setups?
Business & Public play on RTILS represents real workplaces, departments, and locations. Because of that, the Business Group should be created and managed by the appropriate person, not by a regular employee acting alone.
Examples of appropriate people:
- A business owner or store manager
- A head office or regional manager
- An HR, communications, or social/engagement lead
- A supervisor or department manager in a hospital, clinic, or government department
This ensures:
- The Group name and locations are set up correctly
- Regions and internal divisions match how the organization actually works
- The company is aware of the setup and comfortable having its staff and locations represented on RTILS
If you discover RTILS and want your workplace to join, don't create a Business Group yourself. Instead, share the information with the appropriate person at your workplace — such as the owner, manager, or head office contact. They can then decide whether to set up the Business Group directly or delegate it to the correct department.
